Treatment with general anesthesia

In some cases when we cannot treat the patient under a local anesthetic we resort to other ways of anesthesia such as the laughing gas apparatus or nitrous which is a mixture of gas and oxygen inhaled by the patient in a very easy way. This leads to the relaxation of the patient and to a feeling of pleasure and happiness with the pain subdued. And then we can go ahead with the treatment without pain or discomfort to the patient. We use this apparatus mostly with children or elderly patients who have fear of dentists or who are tense, in order to remove their tension and fear.

And there are cases when we cannot treat the patient even with anesthesia by the laughing gas. So we resort to general anesthesia in hospital in the presence of an anesthetist and a full technical team. We carry out all the required treatment in one session while the patient is under the anesthetic, as we have a full dental apparatus and implements in the hospital to complete the treatment successfully.

Who needs general anesthesia for dental treatment?

  1. People who have fear or phobia of dentists and a dentist's chair.

  2. People who do not have enough time to go to the dentist for several sessions.

  3. People who wish to complete the treatment of all their teeth in one session.

  4. The mentally or physically handicapped who are difficult to deal with in the clinic and who have difficulty sitting in the dentist's chair.

  5. Children who do not accept treatment in the clinic or who are hard to cope with to have them accept the treatment. (children between 4-7 years).
